Did you know that Vanilla is a species of Orchid? Yes!

The Orchid family has more than 28,000 species. It can be found in almost all habitats except the glaciers, however, most of its species can be found in the tropics. Because of its beauty and diversity, several countries named a specific type of orchids as their national flower.

Below is a list of the countries and the orchids named as their national flower:

Belize Prostheca cochlear a also known as the Clamshell orchid or black orchid

Columbia – Cattleya trianae also known as Flor de Mayo or Christmas orchid.

Costa Rica – Guaranthe Skinneri

Guatemala – Lycaste Skinneri, also known as Lycaste virginalis

Honduras – Rhyncholaelia digbyana or the Virgin’s Orchid.

Panama – Peristeria elata, commonly known as the Holy Ghost orchid

Valenzuela – Cattleya mossiae also known as the Easter orchid

Singapore – Vanda Miss Joaquim or Papilionanthe Miss Joaquim

Assam ( an Indian State) – Rhynchostylis Retusa, also known as Kopouful also known as the foxtail orchid.

Just like the orchids, we all cohabitate on the earth, We belong to the same family in the zoological taxonomy created beautifully in diversity.
