AZALEA

1 / 6

The poem above was inspired by two Chinese legends about the Azalea, which I read on SymbolSage.com.

The first legend tells of a greedy ruler who made his people very unhappy. An assassin tried to kill him, and just before taking his last breath, he transformed into a cuckoo bird. The cuckoo bird sang in anger until blood spilled from its bill. The blood dropped onto a white Azalea, turning it red.

The second legend is about an emperor who, despite his wealth and victories, remained unhappy. However, when he planted the enchanting Azalea, he finally found the happiness he had longed for.

The Azalea symbolizes love, luck, temperance, prudence, wealth, elegance, abundance, passion, homesickness, fragile love, and even a death threat due to its poison.

I hope you enjoyed reading my poem. Thank you so much for your continued support!
