Did you know that a bee can fly about 50,000 miles just to produce one pound of honey? Yes! I know it sounds like crazy because it is like traveling across the globe twice. Considering how small the bees are, it means they have to travel 150,000 trips just to gather the nectar and pollen they needed in one day.
Hand washing, wearing a mask, and keeping our house clean are important in preventing spread of diseases.
Did you know that bees are very particular about the cleanliness of their hives? Yes! The bees wait util spring to release their biological waste and they travel far away from their hives just to do that.
The worker bees are very efficient in housekeeping. They make sure the cells are clean before the Queen Bee lays her eggs. The worker bee remove all the dead or diseased bees or larvae right away to prevent the spread of diseases. When there is a dead animal inside their hives that is larger than them, they use a sticky antibacterial substance called Propolis to cover the dead animal so it will not rot.
The bees in general take their duties seriously. They all work together for the survival of their species. Imagine if we can all work together just like the bees, then we will have clean and productive environment.
Did you know that the bees population is declining around the world? Unfortunately, Yes; however, we can help our friendly bees by:
- Decreasing the use of harmful pesticides.
- Planting more flowery plants.
- Avoid bothering the bee hives.
- Help lessen the air pollution by walking short distances instead of driving your vehicle.
- Support reputable nature conservation organizations.
