Did you know that there is a Thousand-year Rose? Yes! It is Rosa Canina or Dog Rose.

It was called the dog rose because of the medicinal belief many years ago that the root of this rose bush can cure a rabid dog bite.

Let me go back to the Thousand-year rose. On the outer wall of the apse of the Hildesheim Cathedral in Germany, there is a rose bush World War II survivor.

It is 21 meters high and 9 meters wide.

The rose bush foliage was destroyed during the bombing of the cathedral in 1945 but the roots survived and have grown not only in height but in the hearts of the faithful citizens of Hildesheim.

It is a belief that while the Hildesheim rose bush flourishes, the Hildesheim will continue to prosper.

The fruit of this bush known as rose hips, is rich in Vitamin C. It is also used in traditional medicine to help alleviate inflammatory diseases, viral infections, urinary tract infections, and kidney disorders but before you start picking the rose hips and use it for its medicinal purposes, please consult your doctor.

I believe that flowers bloom for a reason and not just for the season.

Although we may not live for a thousand years, may we all flourish and prosper in good faith because as long was we live, it is never too late to resurrect from the rubble of our mistakes.
