My son, Hawke, wrote a beautiful narrative about the blue-footed booby when he was in high school. He read the story to me, and since then, I have never forgotten this exotic bird from the Pacific Coast of North America.

Unfortunately, humans are their worst enemies because we are depleting their fishing grounds.

The blue coloring of their talons comes from their carotenoid-rich fish diet. This carotenoid is also what keeps them healthy.
