LOOKING IN – A Conceptualized Abstraction

I would like to share with you my latest painting.

Looking In

It is centered on a yellow mustard flower head gently bowed forward, embodying humility and gratitude. Its quiet posture reflects a spirit of reverence, bending not in weakness, but in grace.

The two leaves resting closely together evoke an image of supplication, while the bent leaf reaching toward the earth becomes an act of genuflection—a silent gesture of faithful surrender.

In the lower-left corner of the canvas lies a cracked mustard seed, the humble beginning from which life emerged and took root. From the upper-right corner, soft golden rays descend upon the plant, illuminating it with the presence and power of the Divine Creator.

Scattered across the canvas, luminous circles of light and shadow represent the many forms of life that surround us. Together they symbolize a community—fragile yet enduring—that shelters and protects the growing plant. They may also be seen as stained glass through which others are invited to look inward and behold the life within.

The deep purple background serves as a quiet reminder that growth often begins in darkness, where unseen transformation unfolds before reaching the light.

I find simple pleasures every day in my life, and I am grateful to God for each moment He has blessed me with.
